Bitol is a children's rehabilitation center, which is open to the community of San Miguel Ixtahuacan, in San Marcos. It is a center created by the Catholic Church with the financial support of the Mayan Health Initiative. The center is open to all the people who need help regardless of their religious affiliation.
The center offers 4 types of services 1) Physical therapy 2) Early stimulation 3) Support for children with special needs. 4) speech therapy.
The intention is to support these children with special needs or any type of disability to achieve their potential.
The center was born in San Miguel out of the need of children requiring specialized therapy but that could not travel 3 hours to the town of San Marcos, or could not afford the cost of the services.
MHI is proud of the achievements and growth of the program over the years.
